I got my Alien Gear ShapeShift 4.0 today. It’s pretty dang difficult to figure out. It is comfortable, but the retention gets tighter when I tighten my belt. The gun barely clips in when I’m not wearing it, but is nearly too tight to draw when worn. The J clips are also weird and don’t drop low enough to fit under my belt.
The holster base is a modern multilayer design, with a ventilated neoprene backer that wicks moisture and lets the skin breathe a bit, helpful during warm weather. This keeps the holster comfortable, but also helps it fit the contours of the carrier.
The gun barely clips in when I’m not wearing it, but is nearly too tight to draw when worn. The J clips are also weird and don’t drop low enough to fit under my belt. I have the ShapeShift and I love it. Its extremely comfortable and I wear it all day long from the moment I get up to the moment I go to bed at night. The IWB was the only setup I liked out of the starter kit, so I could have gone with the cheaper option.

The 4.0 is approx. 1/8" thicker from the rear of the base to the front of the shell compared to a leather/kydex IWB, which is negligible in most instances. I wear pants with a self adjusting waistband with a belt so it's all good. I like the ability to adjust the retention with the turn (s) of the incorporated 'nut.'
